Youth Program

ACCAI’s high school program offers comprehensive support for students in Brasilito, helping them grow academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.

Held every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during the school year, the program combines academic subjects like math and English, extracurricular activities like pickleball, mentoring, and nutritious meals to support students' overall well-being.

In a community with limited access to educational and emotional support, this program creates a safe, engaging space where teens can learn, connect, and build a stronger future.

Math Program

Our experience has shown that many high school students in Brasilito and other areas of Guanacaste struggle with mathematics, putting them at a disadvantage compared to their peers other parts of the country. To address this issue, we have developed a specialized program that aims to reinforce the subject of mathematics and create a comfortable environment for students to seek clarification and ultimately achieve academic success. By developing analytical and reasoning skills through math, students can better solve problems and seek solutions, which we believe is crucial for their future success.

English as a Second Language & Academic Tutoring

ACCAI's English classes offer a dual benefit to students by not only teaching them communication skills but also providing targeted academic support to help them excel in their studies. Our program provides a fun and friendly environment for youth to interact with native English speakers and practice their language skills. With the help of our sponsors, we provide a Grammar and Activity book to each student, and classes are carefully designed by teachers to be engaging and interactive. Our mission is to offer these kids English as a second language, so they can acquire the language skills that will benefit them in future professional lives.

Pickleball

ACCAI recognizes the importance of providing opportunities for young people to relax, have fun, and connect with their peers, which is why it has incorporated sports into its program. The organization is fortunate to have dedicated community volunteers who provide pickleball lessons, which not only promote physical benefits such as balance, coordination, and flexibility, but also improve heart health and mental well-being.

Guidance & Mentoring

ACCAI's guidance and mentoring program focuses on supporting the emotional and psychological stability of young people, providing a network of resources and connections that can help them achieve overall stability. This includes consulting, psychology support, educational and informative talks, and other activities, all designed to promote the social, emotional, and health development of young people. The organization has partnered with other organizations to further support the program and receives contributions from community actors and organizations with knowledge and experience in relevant topics.

Feeding program

ACCAI provides nourishment for its youth attendees, every Saturday, serving approximately 30 meals and snacks each week. This is made possible through the generosity of individual supporters. However, more help is still needed to sustain this effort. The organization is actively seeking donors and kitchen volunteers to support the program. Even those who know someone from the community who enjoys cooking can help in two ways: by donating or lending a hand in the kitchen. ACCAI invites anyone interested in getting involved to reach out and join the team.
